Philippine Made: Collectible Wooden Bags and Chunky Wooden Bracelets

Today, I found Philippinebags.com- an online shopping store that sells collectible wooden bags from the Philippines! The shop is based in Cebu City and is a subsidiary of Bedido Fashion Jewelry, a leading Manufacturer and Exporter of Philippine made handicrafts.

I'm so proud to see these Pinoy-made bags that are beautifully handcarved and uniquely designed. Each bag is made from laminated acacia wood and comes in different shapes and accents. Here are my picks!

This one's a favorite! I like the shape and the natural wood color so you can actually see that it's made out of a unique material.

Love this zebra-inspired round bag. You couldn't even tell that it's wood from afar. It is the perfect accessory than can make even the simplest attire stand out and look classy.

Which one's your favorite?

Aside from bags, the shop also sells accessories like wooden jewelry boxes with seashell embellishments, macrame shell necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and souvenir items. These chunky wooden bangles are my favorites:

Schu Shop Shoes

Saw this adorable shoe by a shop called Schu (cute name) online.

I'm also loving the flattering designs of these flats and ballerina shoe collection as I'm a big fan of flats. I hope they're as comfortable as they look! These are perfect for jeans, skirts, slacks, capri pants, shorts and can be worn any day.
ballerina shoes in pink dainty print
dots in violets

simple grey
white with colorful accents

You may be familiar with this shop as there are Schubar shops in Paris, Singapore and Vietnam.

In the Philippines, Schu can be found at Glorietta, Shangrila Plaza, Power Plant Mall, Robinson's Galleria, SM Mall of Asia, Trinoma, Ayala Cebu, Laoag, Tugegarao and outlet stores in Salcedo Village and Davao.

The one in Salcedo is an outlet store - it carries past season styles and the other styles that are sold in the other regions, like Vietnam, Paris, etc. The prices are no more than P1000 per pair.

I like the mouth-watering concept of their shop! This one has just opened at the Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center. This one is a higher end shop that carries more of the signature style. Some styles may not be found in other schu shops around the city.

all things handmade at ETSY

Found a really cool shop on the web today. Are you familiar with Etsy? It's a website where buyers, sellers and enthusiasts of handcrafted items meet. From pottery, knitting, paper crafts, jewelry, clothing, accessories, books, trinkets to everything else- all things sold at Etsy's are all handmade.

They have 170,000 shops from different countries that you can buy from ~ yes, online! Now, they have 8 total shops from the Philippines. I particularly liked this shop: strozzistawzeeh's, for her sterling lizard brooch, and this blue bangle. Nice~!

There's so many unique and wonderful handmade things to see at Etsy's. (check out its showcase for the day where sellers show off their top picks!) I also like the design and the colors of the website cause it's not screaming with ADS! Although I have yet to try buying from Etsy's, I already like it! =)

It's definitely a website worth visiting if you're looking for an authentic gift for a special someone. I'm actually excited to sign up for it as a seller. And would surely be hangin' out at Etsy more to fill in my wish list!

February Shop: Papemelroti

I was looking around where buy wedding tokens when I stumbled upon Papemelroti online! It has been one of my favorite gift shops since I was in high school because i love the fact that all the papers they use are recycled and their designs are adorable.

I haven't visited Papemelroti since I moved to Baguio but just last week, i found out that there is a distributor here. Since when? No, idea. Been spending too much time at home I guess. So for this special month of February, I've chosen Papemelroti to be our first Shop of the Month.

What's with the name?
I actually thought that it was an Italian term or something. But it's actually the first syllables of Benny & Corit Alejandro's five children- Patsy, Peggy, Meldy, Robert, and Tina. Combine them together and you get the name of their shop, Pa-pe-mel-ro-ti. Pretty cool name, huh? =)

Did you know that their first gift shop was opened in 1968 but then it was called, Korben Gifts (Corit&Benny). So when they opened another shop in 1976 they decided to name it after their 5 kids. All five of them are personally hands-on with the management, designs and ideas of the shop and each one has his/her own specialty craft to share.

What gift items can you buy from Papemelroti?
They have decoupage items, wood carvings and wall hangings made of recycled pine wood with adorable illustrations and biblical or inspirational quotes. They have a variety of functional metal crafts, desk accessories, furniture, decorative lamps, beads, figurines, and their signature Filipiniana-themed crafts.

I particularly love their paper products. Their designs make you smile and the items are affordable. Here are my most favorite picks:

Notebooks and journal books like this one costs only P18.00 for the small ones and P28.00 for the big ones.

Stationeries with simple but sweet designs are P14.00 only

Scrapbooks are sold from P159.00 to P199.00.

This blue Kraft paper bag is P29.75 only and comes with a matching gift tag.

This friendship box is only P49.00 to store your memorable things in.

This box contains verses about love and can be used as a wedding token.

Greeting Cards like this are sold for only P14.75 each.

Other paper products available from the shop are bookmarks for P1.75, memo pads for P15.00, gift wrappers for only P9.75, and more. It's heart warming to know that all their paper products are made out of 100% recycled paper so you do your share in caring for the environment!

More about Papemelroti
