If I could afford it, I'd fill my home with nothing but antique textiles - I love patina that age brings to fabrics. And, I love wondering where it's been, who's used it and how far has it traveled.
I purchased this little piece (about 12x20) this past Spring during the Boston Antiques weekend. I plan on making a cute little pillow from it. I love the detail and depth of this toile (click the pic for a detailed closeup). The dealer thought it was early-mid 1800's and came from the Alsace region of France. Who knows, but if the ladies and gentlemen in this scene could only talk, they'd probably have stories to tell!
